What to wear to a rehearsal dinner...that's always a question I hear lots when wedding season comes around.
Rehearsal Dinner's are a funny thing...because you don't want to be as dressy as you're going to be at the actual wedding...but you also don't want to be under-dressed! Most invitations use words like "dressy casual". Takes me back to rush days trying to figure out what in the world "snappy casual" actually meant.
I had the pleasure of getting to attend Caitlin Berndt's (front center) rehearsal dinner last night! I also had the honor/responsibility of getting everyone else in this picture dressed and ready to celebrate Caitlin at the rehearsal dinner! I heard lots of questions like
"can i wear black to a rehearsal dinner?"
"Is a skirt appropriate or do I need to wear a dress"
"I really like this dress, but it seems a little too long"
"Can I really wear two necklaces?"
So, we're just going to start from top left and tell a little bit about the thought process behind each of these outfits...
Top, left (me, Kathleen)
I wore an easy, cotton, Rebecca Taylor dress with sandals. Wedge's would definitely have been my preference...but a broken foot makes that a little more interesting! The dress was comfortable for sitting and not "cocktail" or something I would, otherwise, wear to a wedding.
Top, middle (Melissa)
Melissa is always one of my favorite people to dress! We put Melissa in a black Julie Brown wrap dress from the K. McCarthy Fashion Truck. As it was a beach wedding, we wanted to add some fun color to black...so we combined two different necklaces. One necklace was a turquoise drop and one was a red beaded necklace. By layering them, you get more of a look...and more color!
Top, right (Chelsea)
Chelsea hates shopping...maybe more than Melissa! But she came to the K. McCarthy Fashion Truck sale rack and found this gorgeous Hunter Bell dress for just $78! Not that you can see it well here, but it's a gorgeous grey, with black zipper details. The dress was originally knee length...but we had it taken up to be mid thigh for Chelsea, as she's still in her 20's! She paired it with big black heels and looked stunning!
Bottom, left (Pace)
Pace is just about the cutest pregnant person in the world! We added fun green necklaces to go with her gorgeous, beachy maternity dress...along with a great Sylvia Benson turquoise bracelet. Pace wondered if all of the jewelry was too much because it wasn't exactly the same color...but the answer was no! It brought out the different colors in her fun dress! I can only hope to be that cute when pregnant!!
Bottom, middle (Caitlin, the bride)
Caitlin looked absolutely STUNNING!!! She wore the PERFECT dress as the bride at a rehearsal dinner. It was a super classic sheath, that was fitted to her body! She didn't overdo it with accessories. Just a classic, but manicured, pony tail and gorgeous Kendra Scott earrings! Best rehearsal dinner out fit i've ever seen!
Bottom, right (Sissy)
Sissy looked amazing in a chambray skirt, paired with a silk t-shirt blouse by Leona. Both of these pieces (that just happy to be from the K. McCarthy Fashion Truck) were a great mix of textures and that perfect "dressy casual" feel! We also combined a couple of necklaces to go with her Leona Top (which necklaces are always a necessity when wearing a crew or boat neck).
If you need help with what to wear to a rehearsal dinner...or just need a new outfit for fall, let us know! The K. McCarthy Fashion Truck can be in your driveway tomorrow...or actually Monday, when we get back from the beach! ;)
